While there’s no shortage of Bluetooth stereo headsets for mobile phones, Bluetooth speaker systems aren’t all that common.
Altec Lansing wants to change that with the inMotion SoundBlade, a portable speaker system that works with any Bluetooth phone or device that supports the A2DP profile for high-quality wireless stereo audio.
From the front, the SoundBlade is about the size of a small integrated speaker system, but that’s where the similarity ends – look at it from the side and you’ll see that the speaker is only about an inch thick.
Once paired, music playback can be controlled with the handy buttons on the top edge of the speaker, and if a call comes in, the SoundBlade reveals yet another little secret – a built-in microphone allows you to answer your calls using the SoundBlade as a speakerphone, which is great for teleconferencing.
The inMotion SoundBlade runs on six AA-size batteries (which is said to be good for a full 24 hours of continuous playback) or alternatively, with the supplied AC adapter.
