When the name Apacer comes to mind, we automatically think of memory or digital storage. It was only a short time back that Apacer started making MP3 players. However, the market is filled with many competitors such as Apple, Creative, Sandisk and many more. With such strong players around. Apacer needs to shine in order to achieve the same status. We take a look at the Apacer Audio Steno AU350 to see if they’ve done that.
The Apacer Audio Steno AU350 is compact, no doubt about it. But we’ve seen slimmer and lighter MP3 players in our time so it’s no biggie. Still, in fits nicely into your pockets without taking up much space. Apacer claims that the design is fashionable and trendy, but the shape and cut of the device is nothing out of the ordinary, nor is the design and color scheme anything to shout about. What we did like were the hotkeys comprised of the play mode, EQ and menu buttons. The first two allows you to quickly switch between modes and presets with ease while the menu button opens up an array of options. The interface is easy to understand and navigate as well, providing a clean interface that doesn’t confuse people. Sadly, we didn’t find a radio option. The quality of the sound was pretty good and sharp, but the earphones didn’t do justice to the bass. The bass was quite weak even with the EQ set to full bass. Apacer claims that it can last 11 hours on full playback. Also the device sports 2GB of capacity.
Despite its minor shortcomings, the Apacer Audio Steno AU350 extremely portable and has an organized menu interface, which some MP3 players lack. If you can overlook the weak bass, then it should provide some entertainment on flights or bus journeys.
