At first glance, the Casio EX-S880 truly catches the eye. By far one of the slimmest digital cameras we’ve seen, the Casio EX-S880 is a mere 17.3mm thick. At 128gm, it’s also very light, which might require some care in handling. The shutter and power buttons at the top are quite slim but have a responsive feel when pressed. An array of buttons across the back cover the review and camera modes, zoom in and out, a menu button, a five-way joypad which accesses the flash and family mode, a dedicated video record button and a ‘best shot’ button as well. All this lined up neatly next to the clear 2.8 inch LCD.

The video record button makes switching between taking photos and videos easy without having to change modes. The Face-Detection system is paired with a family function that allows you to save portraits of your family members so the Casio EX-S880 can prioritize its focus on them. The standard 8.1 megapixel camera doesn’t disappoint and our pictures came out sharp and clear on most settings. Casio has a knack of squeezing in as many scene modes as it can into its best shot program and you won’t find a lack of these here.
One thing we missed in this camera was the Casio EX-V7’s amazing zoom capabilities. The Casio EX-S880 only has a 3x optical zoom, which is fairly decent but could have been much better. Its price tag isn’t the cheapest on the market, but with its luxury styling and excellent features, we’re sure that the Casio EX-S880 will find its place in the hearts of many.
