In look and feel, the 12.2 Megapixels EOS 1100D sits somewhere between the entry-level EOS 1000D that it replaces, and the 18 Megapixels EOS 550D. The EOS 1100D inherits the smooth plastic shell of its predecessor, but the round buttons of the EOS 1000D have been replaced by the more contoured, ergonomic buttons of the EOS 550D. The extra two million pixels are just enough to make it a worthwhile replacement for the EOS 1000D.

We swear, if there was ever a mid-range DSLR that could wink, smile and charm us just by sitting still, it’ll be the Nikon D7000. Let’s start with the 16.2 megapixels with the Nikon DX format CMOS image censor, and moving to the new EXPEED 2 image-processing engine. The ISO sensitivity is from 100 to 6, 400, and extendable to 25,600, and it has a direct access movie record button for Full 1080p HD video recording (with continuous AF) which can be edited with a built-in editor. The D7000 has a Glass Pentraprism Viewfinder with approximately 100% frame coverage, along with shutter speed of 1/8,000s. Nikon’s popular entry-level DSLR, the well launched D3000, is finally seeing a successor with the Nikon D3100. The D3100 is still strictly the newcomer’s device, and retains a now improved Guide Mode that gives step-by-step instructions to changing camera settings based on your shots. It will also have a range of automatic settings, like the Live View with Scene Auto Selector (practically Auto mode of compact cams). The camera uses a 14.2 megapixels CMOS image sensor, featuring the new EXPEED 2 processing engine that can be used along with NIKKOR 2 lenses. ISO sensitivity is at 100-3200, and effective boosting to up to 12800. Best of all is the HD video recording feature supported by a bevy of in-camera editing options. This camera is already high on our wish-list, and we’re now desperately latching on to every news of a Malaysian launch these coming months.
