Professional photographers and videographers, take note of this; Kingston have just announced the SDHC UHS-I UltimateXX memory cards. If there’s any reason to get excited, know that these cards comply to the standards set by the Secure Digital Association for the USH-1 speed class, meaning that it’s capable (and certified) to achieve read speeds of 60MB/second and write speed of 35/second. To compare, they’re about three times faster than SDHC Class 10 cards. It works best when paired with UHS-1 device, though it also backwards compatible with Class 4, 6 and 10 equipments. The UltimateXX product line comes in three different capacities; 8GB, 16GB and 32GB.

Kingston had just announced that they have starting shipping 64GB SDXC UHS-1 Class 10 memory cards. In case you don’t know, SDXC (Secure Digital eXtended Capacity) is the next standard from the Secure Digital Association (SDA) for SD cards with storage ranging from more than 32GB to 2TB. SDXC cards allow for both larger capacities and faster data transfer rates, even in the SD form factor, and Kingston’s SDXC cards are compliant with the SDA Memory Card Standard Version 3.01, UHS-1, which is the new architecture of SDXC cards designed to cap speed of up to a maximum transfer rate of 104MB per second, and 300MB/s in future advancements. Yeap, this is a whole different class altogether.
