Android is the new in-thing for phone manufacturers around the world. From lowly, unknown brands to the big boys of telecommunication, everybody wants to join in the fun of having an Android-powered phone in their portfolio. Sony Ericsson wants to join the group, and this resulted in their latest smartphone, the X10.

We’re not sure what to call the Nokia N900. Is it a smartphone or a mini computer with phone capabilities? We’re leaning to the latter.
We’ll spare you te technical details on this guy but just in case you need to know, it’s powered by an ARM Cortex A8 processor with 32GB of internal memory and runs on Maemo 5, a Linux based OS. Nokia has said that the N900 is developed with developers in mind and they were right.

Research in Motion (RIM) is giving itself a second try at a touchscreen BlackBerry with the introduction of the BlackBerry Storm 2. For RIM, old habits die hard as shown by the physical element of its SurePress touch technology. Due credit has to be given to RIM for enhancing its SurePress feature, returning improved tactile feedback on top of multi-press support for a better typing experience. But sized up against the competition, RIM still lacks the usability factor.

If it was made by any other company; I would have given this phone high mark for being simple and elegant. However, this is Google that we’re talking about, so I was expecting something “mind-blasting”. Although it did not live up to my over-imaginative expectations, the phone feels solid. There’s none of those pesky fingerprint and smudge surface. It is mostly covered in a slight rubber matte surface. Even while eating and using the phone, it doesn’t pick up any stains.
