JVC will shortly begin selling here a new LCD TV that is thinner than competing 42in screen sets now in the market.
The Full-HD (1920 x 1080p resolution) LT-42S90 has a liquid-crystal display panel that is just 20mm thick, compared to conventional panels which are 35mm.
This allows the TV to be 39mm thick all around, except for the centre which is 74mm.
Such a slim TV was made possible through the use of a new proprietary backlight unit and power supply substrate design, which are 40% smaller than standard components.
Aside from having sensor-touch controls on the facade and a 23mm thin bezel to accentuate its slimness, the LT-42S90 is also lightweight. It tips the scales at 20kg.
According to JVC, the TV only consumes 183-watts of power which the manufacturer claims is the lowest in the industry.
It ships with the DynaPix HD Picture Engine which ensures vivid colours and rich contrast image-quality reproduction, said JVC. It has a 7500:1 contrast ratio.
The TV also features a built-in MaxBass sound system, as well as multiple connectivity options including three HDMI, two SCART and component inputs.
