With wires taking up more and more space around the household like an unwanted guest, Logitech took the reins and provided us with a taste of wireless freedom. This time around we got to take Logitech’s Cordless Desktop Wave, a wireless keyboard and mouse combo, out for a spin.
Apart from being wireless Logitech puts ergonomics as a main priority. With a contoured and curved design this keyboard doesn’t take much to getting used to. Logitech has made it so so that the keys are placed in such a way that each finger has a dedicated position to make typing easier and less of a task. With a cushioned palm rest a pleasant induction the Cordless Desktop Wave should keep those wrists nice and nimble.
The selling point however isn’t just its ergonomic. The cordless Desktop Wave doubles up as a media keyboard as well. The media control keys are placed strategically around the keyboard. On the left side we have the zoom control keys with below it a key for switching between applications. The right hand corner holds a hotkey for the calculator and another that works as a sleep button for the PC. The top section holds the usual array of media keys ith a few new additions.
First is a widgets button that will open up the sidebar in Vista and redirects you to Yahoo!’s widget webpage if your on XP. The next two buttons operate as your MyPicture and MyMusic Folders while the last one activates your media centre.
The Cordless Desktop Wave comes bundled with a Logitech LX8 Cordless Laser Mouse. The LX8 is easy to use and feels natural in your palm. The only issue would be its weight, making it feel less manoeuvrable than it really is. So whether you’re a blogger or a gamer you’ll find that with the Cordless Desktop Wave, Logitech has once again stamped its mark as a pioneer in PC peripherals.
