Way back when mobile phones were still the size of water bottles, I’m sure that many people didn’t foresee that freakishly expensive device to become the must have gadget we all know today. Oh I’m sure there are people who thought “mobile phones will change some day” but no one can predict exactly how it will change. Anyway enough with that and let’s look at Nokia’s E66.
The E66 is a slide phone that weight about 121g, slightly heavier than standard phones but is quite slim actually. As for the packaging, Nokia’s “fastest and smallest” charger and a 2GB micro SD card is also included. About the phone itself, there’s a lot of good thing to talk about, such as the keypad; nice layout and large keys. Users with bigger thumbs won’t have to worry or frown when trying to fiddle around with the phone or send text messages. However, one thing we found really odd in regards to the design was the red power key on the top of the phone; it’s a stark contrast to the color of the phone’s body itself. The designer probably wanted the button to contrast with the phone so that people don’t turn it off by accident. But really, aren’t there better options where color are concerned?
As part of Nokia E series, the phone undoubtedly has a rather large repertoire of functions and features; the most prominent being the built-in GPS receiver. It may not be the best around when compared to other GPS capable devices on the market but it works well and you shouldn’t have much problems when you are using it to direct you somewhere. With Nokia Maps preloaded and a free 3 month license for voice guided navigation. The built-in GPS is overall a decent addition to the E66. The price tag may be scary for some people but for a phone with that amount of features in it, I personally think it’s not too bad. Think of it as paying a premium for the GPS receiver.
