The W760 is a 3G slider phone first announced at CES earlier this year. As a Walkman phone, it has a music-oriented features like the Walkman music player, RDS FM radio and Sony Ericsson’s shake-control that lets you skip songs by shaking the phone. 3G support for high speed data supports UMTS 850, 900 and 2100 networks, giving you access in most parts of the world. The quad-band GSM receiver also means you can talk on any GSM network there is.
Unlike some of the premium Walkman phones, the W760 only has 20MB of internal memory. To store your music, you have to rely on Sony’s M2 micro memory card storage. Our review unit came with 1GB, though your retail package may vary. The retail box also includes stereo headphones and a USB cable cable for data transfer. Without the cable, you also have the option of using Bluetooth. On the front of the W760 are a pair of stereo speakers that let you play your music pretty loud on the move. The keys on the slider are fairly large, but the number 2 key tends to be blocked by the lower edge of the top slider which forces you to use the edge or nail of your finger to press it.
The W760 is also equipped with a 3.2 megapixel camera, which is pretty good for a non-Cybershot phone. Overall, the W760 offers a balanced feature set for Walkman fans.
