Panasonic launched the HDC-SD9, which it claims is the smallest and lightest 3CCD high-definition camcorder in the market.
The camcorder is only 65 x 67 x 126mm in size and weighs about 275g because it uses Secure Digital (SD) and SD High Capacity (SDHC) memory cards for storage.
A camcorder that uses an SD card, which is a solid-state storage medium, also has a few other advantages compared to one that relies on a typical digital tape or hard disk.
The SC card is highly resistant to impacts because it does not have any moving parts or mechanisms and it can be used (to transfer or view) in many other electronic devices. The HDC-SD9, which switches on instantly thanks to its 0.6sec quick start feature, shoots full high-definition 1080p (1,920 x 1,080pixels) videos at 25fps (frames per second).
It has a 2.7in LCD monitor and a Leica Dicomar lens with 10x optical zoom, and other features include digital cinema mode, intelligent contrast control, face detection and advanced OIS (optical image stabiliser).
