Samsung’s latest flagship compact camera, the NV24 HD, aims to set the benchmark in the industry by offering an ultra-wide 24mm lens as well as full high-definition (1080p) still image and HD (720p) video recording capabilities.
Measuring 98.5 x 61 x 18.95mm, this 10-megapixel palm-size shooter also features a 2.5in Amoled (Active Matrix Organic Light Emitting Diode) display that offers a wider colour gamut compared to a normal TFT screen.
The camera has a 3.6x optical zoom lens as well as face detection and self-portrait modes.
Samsung says the face detection mode can lock on up to nine faces and uses them to set focus and exposure, while the self portrait mode can locate one face and won’t let you shoot a picture unless that face is in the centre of the frame.
The NV24 HD also comes equipped with a smart touch user interface for easy navigation, 20MB onboard memory, memory card slot that supports the SD and SDHC formats, and up to ISO 3200 sensitivity.
Samsung also introduced two lower end models in its NV series, the NV30 and NV4.
Both do 8-megapixel photos and come with the company’s latest image processing technologies such as dual image stabilisation, advanced shake reduction (ASR) and red-eye removal.
