Sony Ericsson’s flagship camera phone, the K850i certainly benefits from the Cybershot branding, and it comes with a 5.1-megapixel camera with autofocus and Xenon flash.
Images are captured at up to 2,592 x 1,944pixel resolution while videos are recorded in QVGA (320 x 240pixels) resolution at 30fps (frames per second).
One unique feature of the K850i is BestPic, which basically takes a series of shots for you to view later and choose the best.
It is a pretty handy feature to have if you are taking group photos and have to choose a picture where everyone’s eyes are open or take a pretty still shot of someone in motion. Surprisingly, the K850i supports both Memory Stick M2 and microSD cards thus giving you the choice to store images, videos and music on either.
The K850i’s LCD screen can display up to 262,000 colours and has a resolution of 240 x 320pixels, and does a decent job of displaying pictures but it isn’t nearly as colourful as the N82.
While the K850i isn’t a Walkman phone, it still sports the same sleek media interface that integrates all the phone’s multimedia content such as photos, music and videos in one neat menu.
The media player is also good, as it is based on the excellent Walkman player, which makes music playback an enjoyable affair.
The phone’s orientation sensor really comes in handy when you want to switch between landscape and portrait mode when viewing pictures or videos.
The K850i lacks WiFi so surfing has to be done entirely on EDGE, 3G or HSDPA connections, which isn’t as great.
