Those of you who use the PC as a source of entertainment will be interested in the Logitech Z Cinema advanced surround-sound system that is just coming to market.
The speaker system is claimed to accurately reproduce dialogue, symphonic film soundtracks, explosive computer game audio and even the ambient sounds in movies and games.
It turns your PC into a high-performance home theatre system, said Logitech, a leader in computer peripherals.
Aimed at complementing Windows Media Centre-based setups, Z Cinema comprises a set of two-way satellite speakers (1in textile dome tweeters and 3in ventilated midwoofers) and an 8in long-throw subwoofer (180-watts RMS in total).
It is a three-amplifier design that delivers surround sound without the need for a pair of rear speakers, according to the manufacturer.
A single USB cable transports a 24-bit digital audio signal between source and the Z Cinema system. The USB connection provides for a hassle-free link and the PC soundcard is bypassed, meaning enhanced audio from any PC or laptop no matter the internal specifications.
Z Cinema speakers also have a headphone jack for private listening and a standard 3.5mm auxillary input jack for connecting to an MP3 player or other audio device.
